About Braintiq - Who Builds It and How It Works

An AI study companion built for South African students, that works from your own notes and quotes them in the study guides it builds.

What Braintiq is

Braintiq turns each of your subjects into a space. You put your own material into that space - lecture slides, handwritten notes, past papers, a textbook chapter - and the AI inside it works from that material rather than from the internet in general. It builds study guides, flashcards, quizzes, formula sheets and day-by-day study plans out of what you actually have to learn.

It already knows South African curricula, including CAPS, the NSC and TVET module outlines, so it is useful on the first day even before you have uploaded anything.

The part we care most about

An AI that sounds confident and is quietly wrong is worse than no AI at all when you are revising for an exam. So when Braintiq builds a study guide from your documents, it does not simply write one. Each factual claim quotes the passage it is based on, and Braintiq checks that the quote really appears in that document before the guide is published to you. A claim whose quote cannot be found is marked, not hidden. The check confirms the quote is there; read the passage when it matters, to be sure it says what the claim says.

That is the difference we are actually trying to make. You should be able to see what an answer is based on, open the page it came from, and disagree with it.

What it will not do

Braintiq is a study tool, not a way to avoid studying. It will not write your assignment for you to submit as your own, and the answers it gives are for learning from, not for copying. AI output can be wrong; you are still responsible for what you hand in. This is set out properly in the User Agreement.

We also do not sell your data, and your uploaded documents are not shared with other students unless you deliberately share a subject space with them. Advertising shown to free accounts is served by third parties including Google AdSense. The Privacy Policy covers all of this in POPIA terms.

Who builds it

Braintiq is made by OmnitechWorks (Pty) Ltd, registered in South Africa (2026/197863/07) and based in Pretoria, Gauteng. It is a small team building for students in the system we know, which is why the curriculum coverage starts with South Africa rather than ending with it.

What it costs

There is a free tier that does not expire. Student Pro is R49 a month and Student Max is R110 a month, both cheaper on semester and annual terms. Full detail is on the pricing page.
